In the article, it is highlighted the need for a complex psychological evaluation and diagnosis of the foster parents, which combines aspects related to their personality, skills and competences, but also their life history, elements that come to complete the requests of the normative framework of the profession. On the other hand, the article presents an innovative approach that relies on the psycho-emotional needs identified by foster parents and on the guidelines of the occupational standard for this profession.
