 Nevoia de auto-îngrijire profesională a asistenţilor maternali atât ca profesionişti, cât şi ca părinţi de substituţie [The Need for Occupational Self-Care of the Foster Parents, as Professionals and as Substitute Parents]

The article begins from understanding the complexity of the foster parent profession, which involves profound psycho-emotional elements, psycho-traumatogenic life scenarios, with loss and abandon, lived by the children that are fostered, but also by the foster parents, the professionals that care for them. In the article, it is highlighted the need for a complex psychological evaluation and diagnosis of the foster parents, which combines aspects related to their personality, skills and competences, but also their life history, elements that come to complete the requests of the normative framework of the profession. On the other hand, the article presents an innovative approach that relies on the psycho-emotional needs identified by foster parents and on the guidelines of the occupational standard for this profession. The approach consists in developing a training intervention program based on occupational self-care, the analysis and personal development of professional foster parents.
