Community social work is the youngest method of social work and is one of the tools and solution forms of (mostly) adverse social situation of larger communities. These communities exhibit lot of problems that we often see as unsolvable. At the same time, they are also a challenge for the demonstration of innovative possibilities, programs, showing how to live a life that is qualitatively on higher level. Without the assistance in these communities we can not expect the improvement of the situation that is why they are at the center of attention of social work. The current terminological definition of community social work is not sufficient for current development of social work as a science, but also for its practical performance in communities. The author was led to elaboration of terminology by the effort to harmonize terms, analyze them and provide a conceptual view on them. The paper reflects the present demands on the “purity” of terminological fixation in the field of social work. Points to possible definitions of community work and community social work and trying to stimulate discussion on this topic.
