Restorative Justice
Social Work Review [Revista de Asistență Sociala, ISSN 1583-0608] is a scholarly peer-reviewed international journal published by the University of Bucharest in partnership with Polirom Publishing House. It aims to serve as means of dissemination of social work theory, research, policies and practices. Social Work Review publishes original and innovative articles on social welfare and human services, social development and social justice, as well as on social worker’s involvement in the traditional neighboring fields of education, criminal justice and healthcare.
Issue no. 4/2015 is dedicated to restorative justice, seen as an interdisciplinary domain that in the past decades has achieved the status of an international movement that has drawn the interest of scholars and professionals from across many disciplines. For this special issue, we welcome articles that analyze and reflect on the applicability of the large range of restorative practices and processes used across different fields such as criminal justice, juvenile justice, social welfare, child protection, education and healthcare:
Conferences (restorative conferences, family-group conferences, family-group decision making);
Circles (healing circles, sentencing circles, circles of support and accountability);
Mediation (victim-offender mediation, peer-mediation);
Boards/Panels (reparative boards, community panels, restorative panels);
Other formal and informal practices and processes (community service, victim awareness and empathy building, affective statements and questions etc.).
We also welcome articles that debate the relationship of restorative justice with the adjacent domains of community and social justice, alternative conflict resolution and peacebuilding.
All articles published in the Social Work Review are indexed by ProQuest, EBSCO, Social Work Abstracts, CEEOL, Index Copernicus, SCIPIO, GESIS and IBSS. Authors receive both a hard-copy of the issue and an electronic version of their article.
We accept articles that are between 5,000 and 8,000 words, as well as book-reviews of up to 1,500 words. References will comply with APA style. The editable version of an article template can be downloaded from the journal’s webpage http://swreview.eu, section Instructions for Authors.
Submissions for this special issue can be made directly to the Editor – Mrs. Anamaria Szabo, Lecturer PhD with the University of Bucharest, and currently Fulbright Senior Researcher with the University of Vermont, at the email address ana.szabo@sas.unibuc.ro. Deadline for article and book-review submissions is September 1st, 2015.
