Relationship with peers has always been blamed for adolescents’ behavior and it has been usually associated with delinquency. This paper analyses if peers have any influence in making adolescents resort to substance use. Also it measures the frequency of drug use among adolescents from Cluj-Napoca. As shown in many other studies, peers have a lot of impact when it comes to adolescent’s decision in using this kind of substances. A quantitative research has been made using a sample of 1005, 9th-12th graders from the high schools of Cluj-Napoca, it has been shown that adolescents who have a much more developed social life, thus a lot of friends, are more exposed to drug use. Also, it has been shown that drugs have been offered more by peers than any other social group. Relationships with peers have the most dominating influence when it comes to substance use, regardless if it is about the consumption of alcohol, tobacco or illicit drugs.
