Community development is one concept that reappeared on the horizon of development theoreticians and practitioners after being conceptualized during the first years after World War II. The article analyses the mechanisms employed in the “At Home in Europe” project designed to mitigate the isolated rural community fears of the effects of the European integration. The results illustrate parish priests’ community resource mobilization capacity during public debate. In this way, the development process of isolated rural communities can be intensified and sustained.
