The relapse process of the addicted consumers, who have a period of abstinence or a period of treatment, represents a process than it is proved to appear almost inevitable. It might appear after many episodes of abstinence or treatment. And there are needed a lot of efforts to prevent relapse.
One of the groups of ex-addicts on heroine who risk relapsing in drug consuming is that of convicts who are about to be released.
For the moment, preventing the relapse in this group it is not included as a possibility of intervention in the addiction services cases in Romania.
The conclusion we reached is that no matter how low it may appear this risk, first of all, this type of service for this category of population should be taken into consideration. And it has to be created the possibility of initiating this kind of services in the communities where it might appear persons who have been released from prison and were heroine addicts.
