Anyone can ask a justified question: Why is supervision required in social work? Such a question is important if the focus on the autonomy of each individual is taken into consideration. Though, in time the profession of social work focused on a closer relationship between the activity of the practitioner and supervision. Is naming supervision be interpreted as a proof of immaturity? To give answers to these questions the evidence of historic perspective is required focusing on its objectives, functions and particularities.
