Kevin Haines joined the University of Wales Swansea in 1993 from the Institute of Criminology, University of Cambridge where he completed an M.Phil and PhD in Criminology before working as a Research Associate on a Home Office funded research project evaluating the introduction of the Youth Court in England & Wales. At Swansea, Kevin has been the Programme Director of the MA in Applied Criminal Justice & Criminology and Director of the Research Centre for Criminal Justice and Criminology. Kevin is a board member of the Reseau International de Criminologie Juvenile and between 1998 and 2003 he worked with the Romanian Ministry of Justice to establish a national Probation Service and community sentences. Kevin has published widely on topics related to youth justice. Current research interests include: Youth Justice, Youth Crime Prevention, Restorative Justice, Risk and Protective Factors for Juvenile Offending and Social Inclusion. Current projects include:
An evaluation of the Welsh Assembly Government's Extending Entitlement strategy. An evaluation of the effectiveness of Anger Management programmes with young offenders. Research into Public Opinion and juvenile crime and sentencing. Alternative approaches to responding to juvenile anti-social behaviour.
