This article analyzes the phenomenon of juvenile delinquency by drawing on the specialized literature, presenting how this phenomenon has been conceptualized and described in academic works over time. The article addresses the conceptual boundaries of the phenomenon, highlighting its multidisciplinary nature; it analyzes both internal causes, such as neuropsychological dysfunctions and affective or personality disorders, as well as external causes of a socio-educational, cultural, and familial nature. This article presents relevant social theories, such as attachment theory and conflict theory, and their influence on the development of delinquent behavior. The focus is on the influence of the family environment, considered an essential factor in the development of adolescent behavior; at the same time, the influence of the social environment, the media, and the phenomenon of bullying are discussed. Through these points, the article highlights the complexity of the phenomenon of juvenile delinquency and the major role of the family environment.
