  • Astrid Hamberger

This article tackles the concept of “immigrant integration” as it is analyzed by different authors in the international migration field. The article brings in the definitional and conceptual battle around the concept of “immigrant integration”. The constant definitional battle and the lack of criteria for measuring this process make this term even blurrier than it is. Thus, in a certain manner, this article’s aim is to clarify the concept of integration. In the first part of the article the different meanings of integration are presented following up with a short historical presentation of the concept. The second part of the article deals with the most important dimensions of integration: cultural, social and economic integration.
