Entrustment for adoption (IVA) is a decisive stage in the process of children's adoption. This period lasts 90 days, with the possibility of an extension. With the introduction of the public profile of adoptable children in 2016 and its access by more and more adopters, the official data of the General Directorates of Social Assistance and Child Protection (DGASPCs) show that the number of revocations during the period of entrustment for adoption has increased. If in 2016 there were four revocations, after six years, in 2021, the number of children who returned to the public protection system, although they had started on the path of adoption, was ten times higher for children selected from the public profile. The causes are multiple and relate both to the profile and resources of the adopters and the profile of the children in the system. In most cases, however, the request for adoption revocation comes from the adopters or the specialists rather than from children. Based on the interview method, the article presents the opinion of 20 specialists from DGASPCs regarding the profile of children at risk of registering a failed adoption, as well as recommendations for adopters to avoid this situation.
