Social Work in Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice is one of the fields where social workers are very active. In this institutional context, social workers meet a significant diversity of voluntary or nonvoluntary clients and also the victims of crimes. Criminal Justice social workers may also work with incarcerated mothers or legal or irregular migrants.

Most of the criminal justice social workers meet their clients in probation services, prisons, re-educational centres, detention units, child protection departments, restorative justice centres or in non-governmental organizations that have the mission to protect the human rights and prevention of the state abuse of power.

Number three of the Review of Social Work dedicates the whole issue to the social workers working in these institutional contexts. If you have articles, reviews or research notes on this topic please send them to Mr. lecturer PhD Ioan Durnescu, the guest editor of this issue, on the address: idurnescu@gmail.com

Deadline: 1st of June 2010
