In this article I briefly described the situation of higher education in Romania emphasizing on the aspect of access in different types of Universities. Also I intend to describe the degree of social and academic integration, engagement and self-efficacy aspect of students enrolled in the Social Work program. The research is based on a survey conducted within three Universities in Romania: University of Oradea, University of Bucharest, and "Aurel Vlaicu" University from Arad, in 2012 as part of an EU funded project. By analyzing the data I intend to find out if there are significant differences between the Social Work students in comparison with their peers enrolled in Sociology and Psychology and differences between the three Universities. The result of the study show that the type of institution in which they are enrolled influences the attitude and behavior of the students, and also that educational program influences aspects as integration, engagement and self-efficacy.
