Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative condition that affects not only motor functions but also the social and emotional aspects of patients' lives. Dance, as a form of therapy, has shown significant benefits in improving mobility, balance, and the psychological well-being of individuals with PD. Dance activities not only facilitate physical exercise but also promote social interaction, helping to reduce isolation and depressive symptoms associated with the disease. Social workers play a crucial role in supporting patients with PD by providing resources and interventions that help manage the social impact of the illness. They collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address the non-motor needs of patients, such as anxiety and depression, and facilitate access to recreational activities, including dance. By integrating dance into therapy programs, social workers contribute to creating a supportive environment that enhances the quality of life for patients and their families. In conclusion, both dance and the interventions provided by social workers are essential in managing Parkinson's disease, having a positive impact on the social and emotional functioning of patients.
