The present article represents a part of my Dissertation work “Support given to the elderly people from rural areas” (Gimbășanu, 2024). In it, readers can identify important pieces of information regarding the types of support provided to the elderly and their needs. When we talk about the needs of the elderly, we mean: primary needs, the need for communication, the need for emotional support, the need to increase self-esteem, the need for personal development, the need for pieces of information. The type of support for the elderly are: formal support and informal support. Informal support is represented by family and social relationships. Formal support includes help from institutions and specialists. The elderly are sensitive and vulnerable beings. They need support and care.
