This paper highlights the importance of supervision in social work. The article clarifies what supervision means, how many types it can be and what are the main competences that a supervisor has. The focus is on how functional supervision is done and brings to the fore attitudes and ways in which the supervising specialist coordinates this process, so necessary in the work of a social worker.
