COVID-19 is the newest enemy of our times, a silent, cunny, invisible but very powerful one. Within only a few months, the entire world has been changing in a non-reversible way. People say that nothing will be the same ever again, which is neither possible nor desirable, as the pandemic widened a crisis that would normally lead to evolution. We pointed four scenarios for structural changes, for whom the pandemic plays the perfect trigger: the prevalence of the empowerment of citizens over the totalitarian surveillance as main strategy to overcome the pandemic crisis; the change of old societal patterns with the aid of the incremental innovations, using the best practices from the past crisis times; the raise of solidarity; and the perverting of the old democracy through the loss of political polarization and low turnout rates at the elections. All these four scenarios will be analyzed for the situation in Romania.
