The introductory segment of this paper presents a synthetic analysis of the implications, practices and needs to which school social work has a response. The next segment of the article serves as an overview of the roles attributed to the social worker in school. These roles cover a wide array of responsibilities, from facilitating connections between clients and resources (broker/ connector role) to crisis management (crisis team member manager role) and developing innovative solution to school challenges (innovator role). In the final segment of the paper are presented specific methods and approaches to the application of social work in school; from evaluation to intervention.
