Social economy is a very effective way to generate various support mechanisms to create quality jobs for vulnerable people and to promote and support their socio-professional inclusion. The long-term impact is obvious: increasing the social well-being of the families of vulnerable people and empowering them to take initiatives on their own and lead a dignified and independent life. People with disabilities are in the category of vulnerable people. But how does the social economy contribute to their socio-professional integration? What are the legislative norms that support this approach and what kind of practices exist in Romania? What social economy enterprises set up by people with disabilities operate in Romania? The article presents examples of some forms of social economy in Romania, which contribute to the socio-professional integration of people with disabilities, by creating jobs, providing training and specialization opportunities, empowering them to change the mentality and attitudes towards the world and life, respect for independence and human dignity and, last but not least, raising awareness and awareness among local communities about the rights and needs of people with disabilities.
