Purpose: Integrated education refers to integrating into the regular/mass education system any child with special educational needs/SEN (e.g. children with sensory, physical, intellectual or language disorders, socio-economically and culturally disadvantaged children, children from formal care institutions, children with slight psychoactive and behavioural disorders, children infected with HIV etc.) to provide them with a beneficial climate allowing for a harmonious and balanced development of their personality. Integrative education is a component of the development of a community that aims to attract the participation of and to actively involve, through combined efforts, schools, families of children with ESCs, and members of their community. The educational assistance provided by the itinerant teachers to children with SEN in mass schools is considered to have the effect of improving education outcomes – which positively affects the development of self-esteem and social integration.
