Romania is full process of reforming health services. The greatest transformations were accomplished at the level of primary assistance. The territorial medical health centres which offered medical services for the entire population from a defined geographic territory were replaced with the institution of family medical doctor that offers preventive and curative medical services for people enlisted, irrespective of their domicile. People’s right to choose their favourite doctor creates the premises for better inter-human relations. In the same time, the competition between the providers can have a positive impact over services quality. These theoretical premises were and are still being confirmed in practice in most of the cases.
