In recent years, with the alarming increase in the number of detainees, the central concern and purpose of detention has slightly shifted towards the reintegrative role of the penitentiary system, to the detriment of isolation from society. Prison systems are confronted with very demanding challenges related to the social reintegration of offenders. The variables in this equation are multiple. Among them, the degree of acceptance, on the part of society, for such a group of persons may be identified. This study aims to observe the way in which phenomena of inclusion/exclusion are experienced by former inmates at various social levels.
