During the recent years, Romania has faced a numeric explosion of Romanians who work abroad. In this article, I intend to approach the migration phenomenon through a perspective which has been slightly explored: the impact of migration on the children left home by their parents.Children with migrant parents are considered a group of high risk. Still, very few measures were set and applied for their protection.Data presented in this article resulted from a research performed in a village from Arges County, using a semi-structured questionnaire for both children with migrant parents and for the children with non-migrant parents. Results show differences between the two categories above.The main dimensions included in the research have been related with categories of consequences faced by children with migrant parents, the impact of the parent’s leaving on the educational process, liaison with migrant parent, relationship between these children and the people who take care of them.Based on the results of the research, there are included recommendations for changes of legal measures.
